Xiang Yang

Postdoctoral Associate

Xiang received her M.D. degree from Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University, Changsha, China in 2017. She received research training through Xiangya-Pitt joint MD-PhD program during 2017-2019, where she worked with mentors Dr. Aleksandar Rajkovic and Dr. Orwig Kyle in the field of reproductive genetics in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Then, she went back to China and received residency training in the Second Xiangya Hospital, where she became a qualified ophthalmologist in 2023. During the residency, she also did some clinical research involving treating glaucoma and uveitis.

As a postdoc in Dr. Fowell’s lab, Xiang’s primary research focus is to understand the temporal and spatial cues for T-cells that traffic into and out of inflamed tissues, with the goal to better identify underlying mechanisms for chronic inflammatory diseases.

In her free time, Xiang enjoys hiking and swimming with friends.
